One thing was evident by the 80’s about the former partnership between French New Wave pioneers film critic turned director François Truffaut & his partner-in-crime renegade auteur Jean Luc Godard; Their friendship was dead & gone and each was following their own path to exploring the cinematic language. While Jean Luc Godard was becoming more & more obsessive with films about film, Truffaut went back to his roots with this homage to his old friend Alfred Hitchcock that looks like the kind shock suspense thriller that fell right out of the Golden Age of Hollywood. Based on a 1962 crime novel “The Long Saturday Night” the pulpy story follows an estate agent who is accused murdering his wife & her lover.
This is a key video release, the emblematic VHS releasing company of the formats early days, known for its rainbow borders & for being the first to license and release some of Hollywood’s best works & it is factory sealed.
