It’s about that time of season for a brand-new wave of Write Brain Video limited edition VHS tapes to add to our growing library of physical media releases! Our last 6 drops have been sold out since last year, but this brand-new batch will feature 25 copies of each; a few on rare colored tape for a few bucks more!
In August 2023, Write Brain TV turned the page with a new in-person / virtual event that would become an annual tradition & explore a country’s struggle for liberation over a course of several curated films w/ special guest speakers & the proceeds going to mutual aid for that country. The 1st in this series was “A Night Of Cuban Shorts” co-hosted with The National Network Of Cuba. In 8 cities around the country, we screened 8 short films that spanned 20 years from 1957-1977, as Fidel Castro, poverty-stricken farmers, & guerrillas overthrew the far-right fascist warlord Fulgencio Batista. Lucky for the rest of the world, this Cuban revolution was documented in 8 short films by some of the boldest visionaries in Cuba’s history.
Presented here for the first time for those who missed this historic night where even the Cuban embassy showed up to offer their support, are 8 of the most important short films in Cuba’s history by such auteurs as Sara Gomez & Santiago Álvarez. Presented in chronological order, these films present a comprehensive story of a successful fight for liberation by a true revolutionary movement. 25% of proceeds will go to the National Network Of Cuba to continue their work in ending the blockade.
These 5 copies are on a special premium Red VHS. Each tape comes in a clamshell with high-gloss reversible covers, giving you the final decision of which version you sport on the shelf with the rest of your collection.
