Puerto Rico Movie Night 7/25
(Orlando, Florida / Virtual ) (7pm EST-9pm EST / $5 per ticket)
1st they took you to Syria… Then Palestine, but this Revolutionary activist org Real Orlando & Write Brain TV take you to an often overlooked territory that’s been fighting for independence for half-a-century with an anti-imperialist film canon that’s been slept on for far too long; Puerto Rico! Prepare for an evening of Puerto Rican cinema showcasing the history of the island, its battle for independence, & the truth behind the United State’s continued attempt to perpetuate its colonization. Many Americans think of Puerto Rico as a travel destination or tourist spot, knowing very little about the horrific history behind America’s ongoing attempts to exploit the people that live there, their resources, & their economy, while doing very little to help the conditions that exist in the aftermath of the United State’s violent atrocities. If you’re interested in Puerto Rican history & cinema, as well as their continued fight to be freed from the shackles of US imperialism, tune in! Tix are $5 if you are in Orlando & can be purchased at the door at Downtown Credo, 855 N Orange Ave. If you cannot make it in person, you can also attend virtually by clicking the link below! After the films, there will be a discussion & our virtual attendees will be transported right into the room with Real Orl! 50% of all virtual tix will go towards Real Orl’s continued grassroots activist efforts including their community garden & kitchen to feed the homeless.
