Devils Night – Opening Night (Hosted by Unholy Rome) 10/29
(Virtual) (Doors open 8pm EST-11pm EST)
Every October for the last half a century, urban landscapes, especially in Detroit, are fed to the flames, an inferno of rundown factories & dilapidated homes sacrificed on this special occasion to Satan. It is known as Devil’s Night.
This Halloween w/ a special host Unholy Rome, we sacrifice our audience to 5 nights of black cinema’s more terrifying black magic, monsters, & more! Set against the backdrop of racism & an oppressive society, blurring the line between horrors black Americans faced & the fears of the unknown. Each night will feature a special curated double-feature to be watched live virtually (w/ the option to stream later) + a panel after a guests, both activists & film historians, to discuss the history that paralleled the films being played headed by Rome.
Night #4 will bring us into the 80’s, with a black master of analog horror presenting 2 underground cult classics from the VHS era! First, we’ve got a story of a black devil doll on the loose, a frightening & fuzzy facelift to the growing popularity of the Chucky franchise followed by a rare hard-to-find horror anthology serving a trio of terror tales + a panel discussion after.
Tix are $5 per night or you buy a weekly pass for just $15! 20% of ticket sales will be split between getting sent to mutual aid to help Rome finish building his library in Detroit & we’ll be donating 10% of ours to help Talal get out of Egypt.Â
