Few filmmakers dared to defy the authorities in Germany after WW II & crystallized the growing Marxist philosophies of the youth than cinematic bomb-throwing le infant terrible auteur Rainer Werner Fassbinder. A director with a vision unmatched & a chip on his shoulder larger than the Berlin Wall, Fassbinder consumed copious amounts of drugs & began directing at 21, crafting nearly 50 masterpieces in less than 2 decades with a rotating group of talented performers & loyal crew members. Eventually he’d pass away at a young age of 36, but not before crafting this film about a fruit merchant with a child-like mind swimming in the predatory streets of Germany in the aftermath of Weimar Era. It’s on VHS tape & is 100% mold free.
